Robert T. Hicks
Lieutenant Robert Hicks drowned after his patrol car went over the Urbanna Creek bridge guard rail as he responded to a call involving a distressed motorist at 4:30 am.
The patrol car left the 300-foot-long bridge and landed upside down in 12 feet of water, killing him instantly.
Lieutenant Hicks had served with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office for 4 years. He had previously served as a peace officer with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 2 years and as a deputy with the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office for 2 years. He was survived by his wife, son, and three stepdaughters.
