Breezeline VATI Broadband Expansion Project (Four-County) (5/17/2022)

In one of two ongoing broadband expansion projects, the Broadband Authority, in cooperation with Breezeline and VATI, is working to extend broadband in six areas of the county. The progress is listed below.  Dates are subject to change!

Ivy Shores:  Ivy Shores has fiber and is scheduled to be tested for live use by 6/30/22.  This system may be the first of these six groups to go live in the third quarter of 2022.

Kates Neck:  Dominion is still working on pole easements, but these should be made available soon.  Crews could be working in earnest there as early as the second week of June.  Access to broadband is expected in the third quarter.

Bennett Farm:  No delays; by third quarter 2022 property owners should have access to the services.

Deer Chase:  There are some delays due to pole permits.  Once issued, the lines will be installed and tested. The expectation is that services can be available by the end of the third quarter 2022.

Stampers Bay:  Splicing started 5/10/22.  Underground conduits are finished, and splicing has started.  This is on schedule to tentatively allow customers access the third quarter 2022.

Red Hill:  Red Hill has encountered some delays due to necessary rerouting.

Overall, the project is moving ahead as expected.  Easements from Dominion can take as long as 90-120 days to process, but Breezeline’s crews have been staying busy in areas where the work is available.

Press Release:
